Quick hit!
I’ve been volunteering since last summer with several groups of folks who I met organizing around and working on rural issues, and I gotta tell you: this work has been essential to keeping me with one toehold on sanity. Which is a hot commodity these days, amirite?!
I’m working with a group now who have teams of volunteers researching the effect that Trumpty Dumpty and The Pigheaded Prince’s corrupt and unconstitutional disembowelment of the country is having on everyday lives. The team I’m leading takes data provided by internet diggers and turns them into graphics to be shared on social media and in blog posts, and we would LOVE for you to join us! Hit me up if you have a couple hours a week and any of the following roles might be fun for you— and please feel free to forward this note to trusted networks/groups that might be interested.
Are you someone who can look at facts and quickly distill what’s emotionally resonant?
How about copyediting and line editing? That your jam?
Have you ever wanted to learn to make graphics with Canva but don’t have any experience? We’ll show you how to plug ‘n’ play info into pre-built templates! Seasoned design types welcome here for the plug ‘n’ play, too, btw—I find it very soothing work, myself. 😂
Or you’re a designer who’s got the chops to come up with new visual ideas and mini-brands for the different topics we’re hoping to cover?
Email me if any of these sound interesting, or you want to know more about the project in general: deanna@deannazandt.com
And if this isn’t your kind of work, let me know what you’re into and I’ll help you find a way to plug in to something somewhere! I cannot tell you enough how much being in regular contact with mostly strangers on the internet who share my values has kept me grounded in solidarity and reality, and has helped keep my panic and terror at bay. The only way we’re going to get through this is all is together.
On the personal front, things have been hectic but I’m hangin’ in there. I just got back from an amazing trip that I took with my mom, and you know how much fun we have together. We went first to Austin so I could work there for a week, and then to Kansas to have a surprise mini-reunion with her brothers and some of their families. My heart is so full.
Your turn!
